NOJHL names its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that defenceman Adam Shillinglaw (Hearst Lumberjacks) as well as goaltenders Karsen Chartier (Greater Sudbury Cubs) and Noah Metivier (Soo Thunderbirds) have been named its BrokerLink Insurance 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending March 30.

Adam Shillinglaw, (D) Hearst Lumberjacks: The Hearst captain supplied back-to-back two-assist efforts in a pair of road contests, helping the Lumberjacks complete a four-game sweep of the Powassan Voodoos in the opening round of the playoffs.

Highlighted in this for the 20-year-old blueliner from New Liskeard, Ont., was helping set-up the series-winner, in overtime, in the finale.

Playing his minor hockey with his hometown New Liskeard Cubs U18 AAA program, Shillinglaw currently tops all NOJHL defencemen in postseason scoring with eight points on two tallies and six helpers.

Karsen Chartier, (G) Greater Sudbury Cubs: Last week saw the 19-year-old netminder from Sudbury, collect a couple of wins aiding in the Cubs series triumph over a persistent Iroquois Falls side.

A former member of the Burlington Eagles U18 AAA system, Chartier boasted a NOJHL-best 1.29 goals-against average in those two triumphs, while pacing all goalkeepers in save percentage as well at .952. He also closed out the match-up with the Storm by posting a 26-save shutout.

With a 4-0 record, he tops all playoff netminders in average at 2.08 while his .923 save mark puts him tied for fifth overall.

Noah Metivier, (G) Soo Thunderbirds: Seeing nearly 190 minutes of game action, Metivier had two victories, featuring a Game 6 shutout with 27 stops, after suffering an overtime setback away from home two nights earlier, to help the Thunderbirds force a Game 7 with the Blind River Beavers Tuesday night.

The run for the veteran stopper, who is in his last season of Jr. A hockey, saw him sport a 1.59 goals-against average along with a sharp .941 save percentage.

Competing with his local Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds under-18 squad prior to joining the junior ranks, Metivier has 27 NOJHL postseason wins to his credit and is a two-time league playoff MVP.
